You've already done all the troubleshooting I know to suggest. It could be the video card but if that was the issue then I'd expect Toast to crash when launching and not after you attempt to select a function.
You can check this by temporarily removing any non-apple plugins there and see if Toast launches and is usable. Toast also can react badly to a connected Firewire audio device because it thinks anything AV device connected via Firewire must be a camcorder.
